Our client is seeking a dedicated Vehicle Technician responsible for delivering the planned schedule of maintenance and repairs to the Council’s municipal fleet assets. This role requires adherence to the standards mandated by relevant legislation and offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the efficiency and safety of council operations.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Inspect, repair, and maintain the municipal fleet assets to comply with statutory and regulatory standards.
- Provide professional advice and guidance on municipal vehicle maintenance and repair to service users.
- Engage in manual and physically demanding tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of the municipal fleet.
- Ensure the health and safety of all resources within the area of responsibility.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures impacting service delivery.
- Utilize complex diagnosis equipment to prepare and present detailed results.
- Continuously review and evaluate service provision to ensure it is fit for purpose and effectively uses available resources.
- Contribute to policy development and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers and the public.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Level 3 Motor Vehicle Qualification.
- Considerable experience in inspection, municipal fleet maintenance and repair, or use of complex diagnosis equipment.
- Experience in contributing to policy/procedure formulation and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to fleet maintenance.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and knowledgeable about current transport-related issues.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a challenging workload under pressure, prioritize effectively, and work independently in high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to undertake Category C Licence training and achieve the requirement within 12 months.
- Flexible to meet the operational needs of the council and willing to undertake continuous professional development.
