The organisation is a major charity, dedicated to running schools and providing support and guidance for people with Special Educational Needs and helping spread awareness and transform attitudes. They have a small estates team, and are looking for someone to act as intelligent client to deliver this project, understanding the real importance in the work they deliver.
Description
This role will be to manage a major and complex construction project building a new school on an existing school site.
You will be the main point of contact for the contractor from design stage through to completion, and have accountability to the project board – liaising closely with internal directors, and Head of the school, producing reports on progress and costings, and updating all interested stakeholders at all levels.
Communication skills will be key to this role, as will delivering construction projects in a live operating environment that is very sensitive, and requires a high degree of planning, communication and problem solving.
You will have full oversight of the design team and engaging with end users to make sure you deliver a project which is fit for purpose. You will coordinate the construction and build, as well as all moves and phased occupation, planning in accordance with the school calendar.
Profile
You will have significant experience of construction project management. Education experience is desired but not essential, but you must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels.
There are no essential qualifications, but a professional qualification such as MRICS or MCIOB would be helpful, or you can evidence training and experience in large scale construction projects in live sites.
Job Offer
They are looking for someone to take the project right through form design stage to completion and handover, and it’s likely to be over a 2 year period, so this role is offered at circa £55K – £65K for a fixed term 2 year contract, based at the site in Rotherham, with some flexibility on hybrid working, although a regular presence on site would be required for the role.
